Ryan Vann


I help manage human capital. My job is to help make effective decisions during the employment life cycle and to resolve disputes arising from employment relationships.


Ryan is a founding partner of Cooley’s Chicago office and assists clients with labor and employment counseling, litigation and complex transactional needs. He guides employers through all phases of the employment cycle, including hiring considerations, restrictive covenants, disciplinary advice, leave management, employment separation and enforcement of restrictive covenant obligations. Ryan has substantial experience in both large-scale and routine reductions in force, including statistical adverse impact analysis, WARN Act evaluation and determination of decisional units for Age Discrimination in Employment Act and Older Workers Benefit Protection Act compliance. He has also led several misconduct investigations of high-level executives and guides employers through day-to-day issues and emergency situations.
