Cooley secured an appellate win on behalf of IonQ, a quantum computing hardware and software company, in the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, affirming the original dismissal of the securities class action and ruling that plaintiffs cannot adequately plead loss causation by relying on a self-interested short-seller report based on anonymous sources.

Cooley secured another win on behalf of IonQ, a quantum computing hardware and software company, when a district court issued an order denying the plaintiffs’ attempt to amend their complaint and request that the court reconsider its prior dismissal with prejudice of a consolidated securities fraud class action.

Cooley represented IonQ, a quantum computing hardware and software company, in a consolidated securities fraud class action initially brought by former investor Michael Leacock.

Cooley, alongside a team from Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, secured a summary judgment victory for the National Association of Realtors (NAR) in a high-stakes antitrust case brought against NAR and Zillow.

Cooley has filed a complaint on behalf of the Federal Capital Habeas Project and four inmates who have been sentenced to death seeking an immediate stay of new US Department of Justice regulations that govern the manner of federal executions and unlawfully eliminate critical safeguards restricting how the federal government executes individuals. The lawsuit asserts that, by providing new and wide-ranging powers to the US attorney general, the final rule violates the US Constitution, the Federal Death Penalty Act and the Administrative Procedure Act in multiple respects.
