Cooley Recognized by Microsoft for Furthering Diversity in Legal Profession
Palo Alto – December 13, 2022 – For the second consecutive year, Cooley was celebrated by Microsoft’s Law Firm Diversity Program (LFDP), which honored the top-performing law firms that surpassed the company’s diversity goals for outside counsel.
The LFDP is “an incentive-based program that provides bonuses to participating firms, calculated as a percentage of their annual fees, for achieving and/or exceeding diversity representation goals.”
As Microsoft noted, Cooley was among the firms that “achieved at least 60% of the program metrics … to not only maintain benchmark goals for representation but also [grow] diversity … through increased representation of African American, Black, Hispanic, Latinx, Asian, women and/or LGBTQ, veterans, and disabled lawyers in their partnerships.”
This recognition marks the second time that Cooley was honored by the LFDP based on the firm’s commitment to creating a more diverse and inclusive law firm.
Cooley is dedicated to maintaining a workplace that values and celebrates differences. The firm is widely recognized for its diversity, equity and inclusion efforts by leading industry organizations and publications. Most recently, the firm achieved Diversity Lab’s Mansfield Rule Certification Plus status in the US and the inaugural Mansfield Rule 1.0 certification in the UK. Additionally, the firm has earned a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index, been named to the Best Law Firms for Women list 10 years in a row by Seramount (formerly Working Mother Magazine), and achieved US Gold Standard law firm certification for 11 consecutive years from the Women in Law Empowerment Forum.
