Looker Enters Agreement to Sell to Google for $2.6 Billion

June 20, 2019

San Francisco – June 20, 2019 – Cooley advised data platform Looker on its agreement to sell to Google in an approximately $2.6 billion all-cash transaction. Lawyers Jamie Leigh, Eric Jensen, Seth Gottlieb, Anne Lieberman and James Rosenthal led the Cooley team advising Looker on the deal. Upon the close of the acquisition, which is expected later this year, Looker will join Google Cloud.

The addition of Looker to Google Cloud will provide customers with a more comprehensive analytics solution – from ingesting and integrating data to gain insights, to embedded analytics and visualizations – enabling enterprises to leverage the power of analytics, machine learning and AI.

“The combination of Looker and Google Cloud advances our mission that we undertook from the beginning – to empower humans through the smarter use of data,” said Frank Bien, CEO of Looker, in a news release.

Looker is a unified data platform that delivers actionable business insights to every employee at the point of decision. Looker integrates data into the daily workflows of users to allow organizations to extract value from data at web scale.
