Meredith and Media General Announce $2.4 Billion Merger

Washington, DC – September 10, 2015 – Cooley is serving as M&A and regulatory counsel to Meredith Corp. on its merger with Media General for $2.4 billion in cash and stock. The transaction is being cited as the largest television broadcasting deal of the year.

The acquisition combines Media General's television broadcasting and digital media assets with Meredith's television assets and national media brands, such as Better Homes and Gardens, Allrecipes, Parents and Shape. The merged company will own or operate 88 stations in 54 markets, making it the third largest television broadcast group in the country.
