Kevin Rooney

Kevin advises emerging companies on their growth from formation through liquidity events. He works as outside corporate counsel with startups on company formation, financing and ongoing corporate governance throughout their life cycles. Kevin advises on transactions, including venture financings, M&A, strategic corporate relationships and equity offerings for companies and financial and corporate investors. He also represents incubators and accelerators working with startups and venture capital funds in their formation, securities offerings and investments. In addition, Kevin occasionally enters into separate engagements with founders for representation in M&A and initial public offering transactions. He previously served as the corporate head of Cooley’s Palo Alto office, where he was corporate hiring partner from 2016 to 2020. He is currently the corporate hiring partner at the firm’s San Francisco office.

Kevin has been recognized for his work by leading journals, including The Legal 500 and Super Lawyers, and was listed in Northern California Super Lawyers’ Mergers & Acquisitions category from 2011 to 2018.
