Joseph Van Tassel is a litigation associate in the intellectual property practice. He has experience in litigating patent, trade secret, and contract disputes in federal and state courts, the US Patent and Trademark Office and private arbitration. He also has experience counseling clients on intellectual property matters, including evaluating competitor’s patent portfolios, licensing negotiations, conducting freedom-to-operate analyses and managing trade secret issues. Following law school, he clerked for Judge Julia S. Gibbons on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Prior to law school, he managed a summer camp and retreat center in central Wisconsin.
