Cooley represented OpenText in a patent infringement trial victory against Box and Carahsoft Technology. OpenText is the largest independent software provider of Enterprise Information Management.
On February 13, 2015, a San Francisco federal court ruled that both Box and Carahsoft infringed, and induced others to infringe, claims on three OpenText patents. The jury found that Box Edit for Mac, Box Edit for Windows and the Box Android application all infringed. OpenText was awarded approximately $5 million in damages.
"This was an important win for OpenText and demonstrates our determination to protect our patents," said Gordon Davies, chief legal officer for OpenText. "The Cooley team fights to win. They are a key partner for us in this area, providing straight-up, creative and effective advice and advocacy."
