Cooley – A Best Workplace for Parents

December 12, 2016

Palo Alto – December 12, 2016 – Fortune recognized Cooley on its inaugural Best Workplaces for Parents list. Cooley ranked #6 on the list, which highlights companies with flexible scheduling, supportive coworkers and an emphasis on balance.

“Cooley is committed to fostering a workplace where people can thrive in both their professional and personal lives,” said Carrie Wagner, Cooley’s Director of Legal Talent. “This recognition is a testament to that and we’re proud to be on the list.”

The Best Workplaces for Parents ranking is based on feedback from 122,482 employees at Great Place to Work-certified companies who completed its Trust Index Employee Survey. Mothers, fathers and their colleagues answered 58 questions about the reality of their day-to-day workplace experience, including organization-wide support for work-life balance, the quality of benefits, the fairness of opportunities for professional development and advancement and their overall assessment of the quality of their workplace.

For three consecutive years, Cooley has been named one of Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work For. Fortune has also named Cooley to best workplace lists for Women, Giving Back and Flexibility.

Cooley recently enhanced its parental leave benefits, increasing the number of weeks of paid leave for primary and secondary caregivers and providing an option for those returning from primary parental leave to work a reduced schedule without prior approval for a period of up to six months. Additionally, Cooley’s women’s initiative runs a liaison program for men and women taking a leave of absence exceeding four weeks. The liaison provides support leading up to the leave and serves as the primary contact during the leave. The liaison also helps to re-acclimate the lawyer following his or her return to work.
