About David

David has spent more than a decade working closely with VC/PE funds and high-growth technology companies on a variety of matters, including cross-border equity and debt financings, buy-side and sell-side acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate restructurings, board fiduciary matters and general corporate governance. During this time, David has advised on hundreds of successful venture and growth equity transactions and has led negotiations involving investors and management teams based in the US, India, China, the Middle East, Africa, the UK/European Union, Australia and all across Southeast Asia.

David was recognized by The Legal 500 as a “Next Generation Partner” in the Startup and Venture Capital – Foreign Firms in Singapore category. He is recognized by Chambers and Partners and was named on the India Business Law Journal’s A-List as one of the top 100 India-focused lawyers at international law firms. David also was named on Asian Legal Business’ list of Asia’s 40 Under 40 Lawyers for 2022, which recognizes the top young lawyers from international and domestic firms across Greater China, South Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia and India. Recently, David spoke at the 2025 Harvard Asia Business Conference and was invited back on the “BRAVE Southeast Asia Tech” podcast to share insights on key developments in the region’s tech ecosystem.

Before joining Cooley, David was a partner at another US-based international law firm and previously practiced at firms in Silicon Valley and New York. David received his JD from Columbia Law School, where he served as the chief articles editor of the Columbia Business Law Review. He received his BS in applied economics and management from Cornell University.

David is a native English speaker and fluent in Mandarin. He is a member of the State Bars of California and New York.
