About Colette

Colette focuses her practice on trademark and copyright litigation and trademark prosecution, clearance, enforcement and counseling. She has helped clients in the retail, technology, restaurant, gaming and life sciences industries obtain favorable outcomes in protecting their intellectual property rights in the US and worldwide. Colette regularly litigates in federal court in disputes involving trademarks, copyrights and false advertising. She also has experience representing clients in trademark disputes before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and in domain name dispute under the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP). In the litigation context, Colette has worked closely with her team to aggressively and favorably position clients for summary judgment, trial or settlement. She also provides intellectual property guidance on corporate transactions such as M&A, venture capital financings and IPOs.

Exemplary matters include:

  • Successfully moved to dismiss complaint alleging trademark infringement, fraud, and contract claims on behalf of technology client
  • Represented apparel company in litigation involving trademark, trade dress, and false advertising claims, defeated motion to dismiss, and obtained settlement
  • Represented toy and entertainment company in copyright litigation and won on summary judgment

Prior to joining Cooley, Colette was a legal intern at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, where she assisted with the organization’s intellectual property impact litigation. She also participated in the Cyberlaw Clinic at Harvard Law School, where she advised clients on copyright, trademark, privacy and defamation matters.
