Palo Alto – July 11, 2022 – With $100+ billion in deal volume during the first half of 2022, Cooley’s M&A practice earned the firm top recognitions on Mergermarket's and Bloomberg’s global and regional M&A league tables for 1H 2022. The practice, led by co-chairs Barbara Borden and Jamie Leigh, continues to lead the market in public and private transactions throughout the current economic and market environment of global mergers and acquisitions.

Cooley earned top recognitions from both legal rankings – most notably, in Mergermarket’s top 3 for US M&A league table by deal count and top 5 for global legal adviser league table by deal count and Bloomberg’s top 4 for global and US-announced deals by deal count.

To support these rankings, Cooley handled deals across a variety of industries while maintaining its top position in technology and life sciences by working on many market-leading transactions, including Turning Point Therapeutics’ agreement to sell to Bristol Myers Squibb for $4.1 billion; Grindr’s agreement to combine with special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) Tiga Acquisition; Nutrafol’s agreement to sell to Unilever; Thirty Madison’s agreement to merge with Nurx; and ONE Finance’s agreement to sell to Hazel (a joint venture between Walmart and Ribbit Capital).

Cooley’s world-class transactional team has worked on 1,600+ M&A deals for an aggregate value of more than $735 billion since 2017, and has guided leading companies and private equity sponsors in some of the market’s largest and most complex transactions. The 180+ member M&A group spans 17 major business and technology centers in the US, Asia and Europe, and represents all categories of participants in transactions.
