James Lu is a co-founder of Cooley’s Shanghai office and the head of its corporate practice, focusing on Asia-related corporate and securities transactions including foreign direct investment, venture capital financing, private equity investment, M&A and public offerings. Lu also has broad experience advising clients on complex cross-border commercial transactions involving unique structures and contractual arrangements designed to comply with legal requirements in multiple jurisdictions, including licensing, joint venture, manufacturing and distribution arrangements in the life sciences and high-tech industries in Asia. Christina Zhang is partner and chief representative of Cooley’s Shanghai office. She has more than 20 years of practice experience gained through private practice and in–house experience in the US and China. Zhang represents clients in cross-border transactions, especially in life sciences and high-tech industries, and other industrial sectors. She has represented clients in their financings, licensing and partnership transactions, joint ventures, acquisitions and divestitures, distribution and marketing activities in China. She has also represented Chinese investment funds and companies in their investments, financings and acquisitions overseas.
