Cooley Guides b8ta on Key Transactions
Palo Alto – March 5, 2020 – Cooley advised retail tech company b8ta on multiple strategic deals, including its partnership with Middle Eastern luxury retailer Chaloub Group to bring b8ta stores worldwide. Cooley partner Kevin Rooney led the team advising b8ta on the transactions.
B8ta’s first international outpost opened in a premium location in The Dubai Mall in January. The store operates with a retail-as-a-service (RaaS) business model, wherein companies rent out spaces to display high-tech and luxury products. Customers are encouraged to test out products and talk to store employees to learn more about the functionalities. Other locations are soon expected to open across the Middle East.
Cooley also advised b8ta on its $50 million Series C equity funding and coordinating launch of Ark and its flagship product, Ark Marketplace – a technology platform to enable retailers and retail landlords to operate their own RaaS concept. With Ark Marketplace, any retailer or landlord will be able to apply the same technology platform found in b8ta stores to monetize the marketing value of their floor space.
Founded in 2015, b8ta operates the largest experiential retail footprint in the world, allowing consumers to discover, try and buy some of the most innovative products in real life. Its pioneer RaaS concept makes it possible for brands to access physical retail as easily as they buy digital advertising. The company operates 16 flagship locations in shopping destinations across the US.
