Cooley Expands Products Team in London

September 5, 2018

London – September 5, 2018 Cooley is expanding its product compliance and liability team with the addition of Claire Temple, who arrives as special counsel from Osborne Clarke. Temple will be based in London.

“Claire is one of the standout, up-and-coming product lawyers in the UK,” said Rod Freeman, head of Cooley’s product compliance and liability practice. “She has substantial experience handling international product-related issues for tech companies and will add further dimension to our London bench.”

Temple has a deep understanding of domestic and international issues spanning product launches, safety and general European liability and compliance. She brings a wealth of experience and insightful perspective to policy matters related to innovative digital technologies, including internet of things, artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicles, robotics and drones.

“I’m excited to join Cooley’s thriving London office and products team,” Temple said. “The firm’s wide-ranging product compliance and liability strengths, as well as its powerful client base, complement my own growing practice. Together, we offer a unique range of specialized products knowledge to technology companies.”

Temple, who chaired the Smart Cities Committee for TechUK from 2017 to 2018, is also deeply committed to leading diversity and inclusion initiatives throughout the legal and regulatory sectors, especially for women in technology. She co-established the highly successful Women in Regulatory Law, a networking group for women working in regulatory law in private practice and in-house, and also established the acclaimed “Women in Tech – In Conversation” series in the UK.

Cooley bolstered its international product compliance and product liability practice with the addition of Rod Freeman to its London office last May. Recognized as one of the world’s leading products lawyers, Freeman has a background in high-stakes product liability litigation and has devoted more than 20 years to international products law. Cooley recently partnered with Thomson Reuters to launch a new Global Guide on Product and Liability Safety, on which Freeman also serves as general editor.
