Masquerade Sells to Facebook

April 5, 2016

Palo Alto – April 6, 2016 – Cooley advised popular application Masquerade, also known as MSQRD, on its sale to Facebook. The acquisition allows Masquerade’s technology to reach Facebook’s 1.6 billion users.

Masquerade strives to make live video interaction even more attractive for both business customers and consumers by offering mobile applications with facial detection, tracking and 3D reconstruction technologies enabling users to superimpose 3D objects and layers over their faces on photo and video.

“At Masquerade, we’ve worked hard to make video more fun and engaging by creating filters that enhance and alter your appearance,” said Masquerade co-founder Eugene Nevgan in a blog post. “We’re excited to join forces with Facebook and bring the technology to even more people.”

The team advising Masquerade includes Kevin Rooney, Peter Burns, Eric Malis, Kristin Leavy, David Wittenstein, Laura McDaniels, Camille Formosa, Yinmei Li and Jonathan Rivinus.
