Cooley is proud to sponsor the 37th White Collar Crime National Institute, which will present outstanding panelists who have specialized insight into some of the most significant issues of our time. The institute has historically been attended by leading federal and state judges and prosecutors, law enforcement officials, defense attorneys, corporate in-house counsel and members of the academic community. The faculty regularly includes some of the top members of the white collar bar in the United States and abroad. Among the audience are nationally renowned lawyers, as well as many who are beginning to concentrate in the white collar area.

Panelists will discuss the May 7, 2021 Colonial Pipeline cyberattack that impacted the company’s computerized pipeline system that originated in Texas and carried gasoline and jet fuel to the Southeastern states, focusing on existing civil and criminal liability, coordination with federal law enforcement agencies (DOJ and DHS), US cooperation with other countries to identify criminal actors and seek asset seizures, and examine the technological and compliance steps that should be in place to preempt and mitigate against such harmful breaches.
