William J. Friend

Will practices general corporate law, advising emerging and high-growth companies through all stages of the corporate life cycle. As a corporate generalist, Will also represents investors and underwriters. His practice includes entity formation, corporate governance, private financings, public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and securities compliance.

Will also maintains an active pro bono practice advising clients, working closely with Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts on intellectual property-focused cases.

Prior to Cooley, Will began his career in the investment management practice of an international law firm based in New York. Before law school, Will worked as global director of government relations at a fintech startup. He received his joint JD/MBA degree from NYU School of Law and NYU Stern School of Business and his BA from Brown University.
