About Von
Von is passionate about working with clients to solve business problems and obtain optimal outcomes, concentrating his practice on helping investors and companies achieve success in business with a strategic and pragmatic approach. As a member of the private companies practice group, Von focuses on advising, structuring and closing transactions involving innovative technologies and strategic investments. He has extensive experience representing venture capital funds, angel investors, startups and founder-led companies in a range of transactions across formation, financing and exits.
Representative experience:
- Led and closed preferred equity financings for more than $100 million*
- Worked on M&A transactions from $800 million to $1 billion+*
- Represented client and closed deal with investor from ABC’s “Shark Tank”*
- Represented startup companies receiving investment from Y Combinator, Techstars, NASA and other accelerators*
- Represented several clients from formation to exit, including IPOs and private equity sales*
- Represent private companies receiving strategic investments from New York Stock Exchange public companies*
- Represent emerging growth companies in licensing transactions with world-leading universities*
- Represent numerous emerging manager-led venture capital funds*

Von is active in the startup company and investor ecosystem and has served as a panelist at NYU, Harvard, Georgetown University and various technology accelerators.
Von is committed to serving his community and has represented nonprofits and companies with a positive social impact on a pro bono basis.
Before joining Cooley, Von was a partner in the New York office of another Am Law firm.
While in law school, Von was awarded the Legal Practice Award for Excellence in Oral Advocacy and attended the National Taiwan University College of Law as a visiting student focusing on cross-border transactions and comparative law. Von played NCAA Division I football at UPenn and played two seasons at Duke University as a full athletic scholarship recipient for the Blue Devils (before transferring to UPenn).
