Shannon Murphy

Shannon focuses on patent preparation and patent prosecution. She leverages her strong background in the physical sciences, as well as hands-on engineering experience in the Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program as a Surface Warfare Officer on aircraft carriers. She earned a Master of Science in Law, with a focus on intellectual property and patents, from Northwestern University. She instructed prospective engineers in advanced topics in nuclear engineering, focusing on reactor dynamics, complex protection system analysis and electrical signal paths within control systems.

Shannon received a full year of in-classroom and hands-on training as a nuclear operator and was qualified by the Department of Energy via Naval Reactors as a nuclear operator and a nuclear engineer officer. Before her nuclear tour, she also served as a communications officer on a destroyer and was in charge of the ship’s communication suite and cyber systems. Shannon has volunteered with the Girl Scouts and a local teen crisis intervention line for many years.
