About Rhodri

Rhodri is a part-qualified chartered (UK) patent attorney and European patent attorney in Cooley’s London office. His practice focuses extensively on engineering, and his experience includes working with mechanical, electronic and software-based inventions across a wide variety of industries.

Rhodri is also experienced in drafting and prosecuting European, British and international patent applications before the European Patent Office (EPO) and the UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO), including representing clients in oral proceedings before the EPO’s examining and opposition divisions, as well as the Boards of Appeal. He has represented a range of clients in all these activities, from early-stage startups to large multinationals.

Before starting his training to become a patent attorney, Rhodri led the engineering team at a renewable energy startup and worked for a large multinational data analytics company.

Rhodri earned a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Nottingham, where his dissertation focused on designing and manufacturing novel medical devices to improve the long-term effectiveness of hip surgeries.
