About Rhodri
Rhodri is a part-qualified chartered (UK) patent attorney and European patent attorney in Cooley’s London office. His practice focuses on providing strategic patent advice and the preparation and prosecution of global patent portfolios. Rhodri is also experienced in post-grant proceedings before the European Patent Office (EPO). His academic background and industrial experience provide him with the ability to assist clients in patent matters relating to inventions across technical fields. These include aerospace engineering, medical devices electronics, fluid dynamics, quantum mechanics, software, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Rhodri provides strategic patent advice, conducts invention harvesting, and drafts and prosecutes global patent portfolios. He is skilled in contentious matters through representing clients in post-grant proceedings before the EPO’s Opposition Division and the Boards of Appeal. He has represented a range of clients from early-stage startups to large multinationals.
Rhodri holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering. His dissertation focused on designing and manufacturing novel medical devices to improve the long-term effectiveness of hip surgeries. Rhodri worked in industry as a data analyst at a market-leading company and led the engineering team at a startup designing novel battery storage solutions for renewable energy.
