About Michael

Dr. Michael McEvoy focuses on patent preparation and prosecution of domestic and international biotechnology, medical device and pharmaceutical patent applications, as well as assisting in the preparation of invalidity/non-infringement opinions, conducting freedom-to-operate and patentability analyses and performing intellectual property due diligence.

Michael has extensive technical experience in transgenics, neuroscience, microbiology, virology and molecular biology. Before Cooley, Michael worked for several years as a technical specialist/patent agent at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in the preparation and prosecution of domestic and international biotechnology, medical device and pharmaceutical patent applications, as well as in assisting in the preparation of invalidity/non-infringement, freedom to operate and patentability opinions.

Michael's doctoral research at Yale University focused on characterizing the role of a translational control protein in learning and memory in generated transgenic mouse lines. He then undertook postdoctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of technology, where his work focused on developing large-scale gene knockdown screens in primary neuronal cultures combining RNAi technology and high-content image analysis in order to assess the role of candidate genes in neuronal development. He has authored or co-authored publications appearing in the Journal of Neuroscience, Glia and CBE-Life Sciences Education.
