Meera Govindaraghavan

Dr. Meera Govindaraghavan is a patent agent focused on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, analysis of patent portfolios, preparation of opinions and strategic counseling, in the life sciences, biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors. She is experienced in working with diverse technologies including recombinant proteins and antibodies, therapeutic drugs and methods of treating diseases. Her work is informed by her technical expertise and research experience in molecular genetics and cell biology.

Prior to joining Cooley, Meera was a patent agent at an IP-focused boutique law firm in Washington DC, where she managed the prosecution of biotechnology-related patent applications and advised clients based primarily in Asia and Europe. Her doctoral research was focused on the regulation of the cell cycle in the model filamentous fungus, Aspergillus nidulans, and involved the use of live cell confocal microscopy, biochemistry and genetics. Meera also conducted post-doctorate research work at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Worcester, MA and Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. Her research has been published in top-tier, peer-reviewed scientific journals and recognized at international conferences.
