About Karla

Karla focuses on commercial lending, debt finance and secured transactions, primarily representing financial institutions, asset-based lenders and emerging growth companies with respect to documentation of credit finance transactions. She has 20+ years’ experience advising banks and credit providers on secured lending transactions, with an emphasis on fund finance and venture debt lending. In addition, Karla advises private and public company borrowers at various stages of growth on obtaining liquidity options across a range of industries, particularly tech and life sciences.

Before joining Cooley, Karla was corporate counsel for Invitrogen Corporation and, before that, an associate at a prominent global law firm. She served as a judicial law clerk to Judge Louise DeCarl Adler of the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of California.

Karla participated as an athlete in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain, as a springboard diver for Argentina.
