About Jana

Jana advises and supports Cooley’s products practice group on current legal, regulatory and legislative developments. She brings her deep knowledge of product safety matters and the federal government gained from more than two decades of experience at the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and US Senate.

In this role, she is responsible for leading knowledge management initiatives, advising on current issues and developments, and implementing new processes to efficiently provide legal services to the firm’s clients.

Jana previously served as chief of staff to two different CPSC chairmen and as an attorney advisor to a CPSC commissioner, giving her exceptional insight into CPSC’s leadership, enforcement culture and regulatory practices. Prior to the CPSC, Jana served as an attorney at the FTC, acting as liaison between FTC staff and Congress on privacy and data security issues, deceptive marketing and unfair advertising claims. She also spent many years on Capitol Hill, serving most recently as legislative director and counsel for the ranking member on the US Senate Commerce Committee, which has jurisdiction over the CPSC, FTC, Federal Communications Commission, Department of Commerce and many other federal agencies.
