Cooley represented plaintiff and appellant Debra Turner in successfully petitioning the California Supreme Court to review her case and in achieving a sweeping victory on the merits for Turner and for all California charities.

Cooley secured an appellate victory for Interwest Capital, a prominent California-based real estate investment firm, and its CEO and chairman Alex Roudi, which reinforces the contractual right to arbitral finality. Partners Steve Strauss and Erin Trenda led the Cooley team advising Interwest and Roudi.

Cooley, alongside the National Center for Youth Law, the Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law, and the UC Davis Immigration Law Clinic, achieved a landmark ruling in which a federal judge held that unaccompanied children in federal immigration custody are entitled to greater constitutional protections than they are currently afforded when they are detained in restrictive placements or denied release to family members. Lawyers Summer Wynn, Michael McMahon, Alix Mayhugh and Jamie Robertson led the Cooley effort.

Cooley secured the dismissal with prejudice for Accelerated Assets and two other entities, SS Purchco and Pahrump Valley Real Estate, in a securities enforcement action brought by the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation alleging that these entities engaged in aiding-and-abetting securities violations allegedly committed by the developer and certain executives and employees of the Silver Saddle Ranch & Club in the Mojave Desert.

Cooley represented Accelerated Assets, an investment firm that is focused on the acquisition, development, sale and financing of timeshare assets, and two other entities, SS Purchco and Pahrump Valley Real Estate Co. (PVRE), in a securities enforcement action brought by the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation that has received significant media attention, in which all claims against Cooley’s clients were dismissed with prejudice.
