Hoon Kim
About Hoon
Hoon advises clients on data privacy, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence-related regulatory issues arising from the development and deployment of novel technologies, products and services. His practice focuses on helping technology-driven clients comply with US federal and state privacy laws and international data protection regimes.
Hoon brings a multidisciplinary perspective to his practice, informed by prior professional experience in data analytics and data science. Before entering law, he worked in the internet and technology sectors, advising senior leadership on data-driven decision-making, operational optimization and product development. This background enables him to understand tech clients’ evolving business needs to provide client-centric legal guidance.
At Georgetown University Law Center, Hoon focused his studies on the intersection of technology and public policy, including civil rights, surveillance technologies, election security and AI governance. He served as a teaching assistant for a programming course for lawyers for two years and participated in Georgetown Law’s Communications & Technology Law Clinic, where he advocated for state legislation that better protects Maryland residents from surveillance by federal immigration agencies. He also interned at a DC-based boutique law firm and at EqualAI, a nonprofit focused on advancing effective AI governance frameworks.
Before his professional career, Hoon served in the Republic of Korea Armed Forces.
