About Hannah

Hannah Claughton is a Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney. Her practice includes drafting and prosecuting British, European and International patent applications, and providing opinions on infringement and validity. Hannah has also represented clients at oral proceedings before the Examining Division of the European Patent Office, and has prepared and filed grounds of opposition against various European patents.

Hannah handles patent matters relating to chemical and mechanical subject-matter, with the main focus of her practice currently being in the area of pharmaceuticals. She also has particular experience in the fields of oral and personal care products, food compositions, packaging, printing technology and mechanical devices. Hannah has also been involved in the prosecution of applications relating to catalysis, electroplating, medical devices and drug delivery.

Hannah's technical background is in chemistry. Following the completion of her undergraduate degree, Hannah then obtained her D.Phil in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Oxford (thesis title: "Towards Radiopharmaceuticals Based on Copper Bis(thiosemicarbazone) Complexes"). Her doctoral research involved the synthesis and characterization of copper complexes specifically targeted for uptake by hypoxic (oxygen-deficient) cells, such as those found in rapidly growing tumours.
