About Eric
Eric is a partner in Cooley’s UK emerging companies and venture capital team. He advises high-growth technology companies and their investors on private financings, M&A and strategic and corporate governance matters.
Eric regularly advises leading US and European venture capital investors – including Accel, Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), EQT Ventures, Felix Capital, Founders Fund, General Catalyst, Institutional Venture Partners (IVP), Lightspeed Venture Partners, LocalGlobe, Northzone, QED Investors, Stride.VC, 20VC and others – on their investments in technology companies.
Eric also represents private technology companies at all stages, from inception through to sale/initial public offering, and in a range of sectors, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and fintech companies.
Eric’s recent company-side experience includes advising:
- Codat, a fintech company that develops accounting, banking and commerce integration solutions, on its $100 million Series C financing, led by J.P. Morgan, and its $40 million Series B financing, led by Tiger Global
- Synthesia, an AI video creation software developer, on its $90 million Series C financing, led by Accel, its $50 million Series B financing, led by Kleiner Perkins and Google Ventures (GV), and its $12.5 million Series A financing, led by FirstMark
- Stable, an index-based commodity hedging solutions provider, on its $60 million Series B financing, led by Acrew Capital, and its $6.5 million Series A financing, led by Greycroft
- Runa (formerly WeGift), an automated digital payout company, on its 26-million-pound Series B financing, led by Element Ventures, and its $12 million Series A financing, led by AlbionVC
- Red Sift, a cybersecurity company, on its $54 million Series B financing, led by Highland Europe
Before joining Cooley, Eric worked as an investment principal at a London-based venture capital firm, where he originated investment opportunities, negotiated and executed new and follow-on investments, and monitored and supported the firm’s portfolio companies.
Eric trained as a solicitor at a London-based international law firm before joining the London corporate team of a multinational Magic Circle firm. He earned a Master of Business Administration from BPP University, completed his legal studies at BPP Law School and received a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the University of Sussex.
