About Emma
Emma focuses on information security, privacy and data protection issues. She advises clients from a range of industries on incident preparedness and response, data export controls, and other legal and regulatory compliance issues.
Emma’s pro bono practice focuses on advising low-income, unrepresented individuals in housing disputes.
Before joining Cooley, Emma worked in the privacy and cybersecurity group at an international law firm in New York City. During law school, she completed legal internships with the Data Privacy and Security Division of the Massachusetts attorney general’s office and the Electronic Frontier Foundation. She also served as a research assistant at the Harvard Law School Program on International Law and Armed Conflict and to Mason Kortz of the Harvard Law School Cyberlaw Clinic.
Prior to starting her legal career, Emma served as a senior cybersecurity engineer at the MITRE Corporation, focusing on reverse engineering, proof-of-concept development, digital forensics and cyber national security investigations.
