Emani Oakley

Emani focuses on cyber, data and privacy law, spanning complex commercial litigation, government investigations and compliance counseling. She represents clients across the US and in multistate cases involving privacy, consumer protection and technology-driven claims. Emani also advises clients on proactive compliance strategies and the emerging litigation risks associated with rapidly developing federal and state regulatory frameworks. She has helped clients in the technology, AI and ecommerce industries obtain favorable outcomes in disputes in federal and state courts.

Emani maintains an active pro bono practice, focusing on immigration, domestic violence and human and civil rights.

Before joining Cooley, Emani served as a writing skills advisor for UCLA’s Legal Research and Writing Skills Program, where she mentored fellow law students in developing practical legal writing skills. She served as comments editor of the UCLA Law Review and managing editor of the Journal of International Law and Foreign Affairs.
