Dorothy “Doro” Newman
About Doro
Doro counsels employers across the full range of employment law issues, from hiring and day-to-day management decisions to employee departures and disputes. Her work includes drafting and negotiating employment and compensation-related agreements and advising on employment law matters such as diversity, equity and inclusion, restrictive covenants, workplace accommodations, discipline and performance management, and separations, including partner and executive departures. She dedicates a significant portion of her practice to investment fund clients, working closely with Cooley’s fund formation practice to address the employment law issues that are unique to venture capital and other investment fund managers.
Before joining Cooley, Doro gained firsthand perspective on the business side of the law as in-house employment counsel at a large private equity fund. Before that, she worked as an employment associate at another full-service law firm. Her combined law firm and in-house experience informs the practical, business-minded counsel she brings to clients.
