About David

David’s practice focuses on patent law within the chemical, biotech and pharmaceutical industries. He prepares and prosecutes domestic and international patent applications while strategically managing patent portfolios and assisting clients with invalidity, noninfringement, patentability and freedom-to-operate assessments. David’s experience spans a broad range of technological fields, including antibody design, peptide and small molecule therapeutics, and biotechnology.

While pursuing his PhD, David focused on developing novel antibodies to study proteins related to Alzheimer’s disease, and, separately, he identified peptides that can modulate Notch-dependent cancer signaling. His master’s work focused on studying surfactant toxicity in relation to metallic nanoparticles. As an undergraduate, David worked on biodegradable polymers designed for various drug delivery applications.

Before joining Cooley, David worked in the intellectual property litigation group of an international law firm. During graduate school, he interned at Cornell University’s Center for Technology Licensing.
