About David

David Bresnick focuses on domestic and cross-border M&A and venture/growth capital transactions. David specializes in transactions for technology companies of all shapes and sizes, from early stage through to IPO/Exit.  David has also been acting for international clients on their strategic investment , roll up plans and joint venture activity across Europe for 15+ years and has built up a deep understanding of how to structure and execute pan-European cross-border transactions for domestic and overseas clients.

David joined Cooley from Morrison & Foerster. Prior to that, he was at CMS Cameron McKenna, where he headed the private equity group and led the corporate telecoms, media and technology group. 

Notable recent transactions include advising: 
  • the management team of software company Calypso Technology, Inc. on the sale of Calypso to private equity firm Thoma Bravo
  • the shareholders of SwiftKey, including founders Jon Reynolds and Ben Medlock and various investors including Accel Partners, Index Ventures and Octopus Investments, on its acquisition by Microsoft 
  • Adestra on its sale to Upland Software, a provider of cloud-based enterprise work management software
  • SpotX on its acquisition of Yospace Technologies, a leading ad insertion business 
  • IRIS Software on a number of strategic and bolt on domestic and international acquisitions including Star software
  • Advanced Computer Software Group plc, provider of IT services to healthcare companies and NHS walk-in centres, on its £725 million takeover by US private equity firm Vista Partners 
  • General Catalyst on its investment into Deliveroo as part of $275 million Series E financing
  • Cloud Imperium Games, creator of the upcoming multiplayer space game "Star Citizen," on its $46 million venture round funding
  • Business Growth Fund on various growth capital investments including its combined £25 million growth capital investment in GYMBOX enabling further expansion across London and UK of this leisure brand 
  • DST Global Solutions Ltd, provider of stand-alone software for investment managers, on its $95 million sale to SS&C Technologies
  • Thras.io on its acquisition of several ecommerce businesses trading on Amazon
  • strategic investors on their investment into Soundcloud
