About Christine

Christine is a special counsel in Cooley’s antitrust & competition practice. Christine advises clients in a broad range of sectors on all aspects of UK competition law – most notably, in the technology and life sciences sectors. In addition, a core part of her practice involves advising clients on foreign investment regulatory risk and managing foreign investment reviews around the world.

Christine is recommended in the EU and Competition category in the 2021 edition of The Legal 500 UK. She is vice chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) Antitrust Law Section Foreign Investment and National Security Committee and a member of the UK government’s expert panel on the UK national security and investment screening regime.

In 2017, Christine was seconded to the UK government to assist on Brexit-related matters.

Christine’s representative matters include advising:

  • Insurance Auto Auctions (IAA), a global digital marketplace connecting vehicle buyers and sellers, on its agreement to sell to Ritchie Bros. for approximately $7.3 billion
  • Horizon Therapeutics, a specialty biopharmaceutical company, on its agreement to be acquired by Amgen for approximately $28 billion
  • Arena Pharmaceuticals, a clinical-stage company developing innovative potential therapies for the treatment of several immuno-inflammatory diseases, on its definitive agreement to sell to Pfizer for $6.7 billion
  • Curv, a leading provider of cloud-based infrastructure for cryptocurrency security, on its agreement to sell to PayPal
  • Brandwatch, a global leader in digital consumer intelligence and social media listening, on its agreement to sell to Cision, a public relations, marketing and social media management technology company, for $450 million
  • Tableau on its agreement to sell to Salesforce in a $15.7 billion all-stock transaction
  • Looker on its sale to Google in an approximately $2.6 billion all-cash transaction
  • An investment consultancy firm in response to the Financial Conduct Authority’s asset management market study and subsequent market investigation by the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA)
  • A subsidiary of a supermajor on its competition law pleadings before the High Court in relation to the termination of a suite of agreements relating to the production and transportation of gas from offshore fields to the UK National Transmission System
  • A leading pharmaceutical manufacturer in a European Commission investigation into the supply of medicines
  • A large telecommunications operator on an appeal before the Competition Appeal Tribunal in relation to fair access to infrastructure and margin squeeze claims
  • Various companies on merger control filings before the European Commission and the CMA
