About Bob

Bob represents clients facing high-stakes disputes, with a focus on appellate and commercial litigation. His diverse practice spans First Amendment and constitutional litigation, business torts, contract disputes, data privacy matters, class actions and administrative law. Bob also devotes substantial time toward impact pro bono work, advocating for speech and press freedoms, fair elections and reproductive rights.

Before joining Cooley, Bob clerked for Judge James E. Graves Jr. of the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and Magistrate Judge Youlee Yim You of the US District Court for the District of Oregon. Between his clerkships, he practiced in the white collar criminal defense and government investigations group of a prominent US-based law firm.

In law school, Bob served on the executive board of the UC Law Journal, chaired the write-on competition for scholarly publications and managed advocacy efforts as the student government chief of staff. His clinical work included externships at all levels of government: the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office (Government Team), California Department of Justice (Civil Rights Enforcement Section) and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (Office of Regulations). Before law school, Bob worked in local politics in the Bay Area and volunteered extensively with high school speech and debate programs.
