About Anu

Anu’s litigation practice focuses on defending technology companies against privacy-related torts, as well as representing individuals and entities in white collar criminal defense matters and internal investigations. He has represented clients throughout the litigation process, including trial, dispositive motion practice, discovery and appeal.

Before joining Cooley, Anu clerked for US District Judge Lawrence J. O’Neill and Judge Dale A. Drozd in the US District Court for the Eastern District of California. During law school, Anu was the president of the South Asian Law Students Association, as well as a recipient of the Wrongful Convictions Clinic’s annual advocacy award for his representation of a client claiming actual innocence in federal district court and the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Anu’s recent litigation experience includes representing:

  • A global technology company in a consolidated class action alleging various privacy claims under California and federal law related to online advertising
  • A former executive of a cryptocurrency exchange under investigation by the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission
  • A major collegiate athletic conference in an internal investigation, culminating in the termination of two high-ranking executives
  • A global retailer facing a claim brought under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act regarding “voiceprints” in a matter of first impression
  • A global technology company relating to the sale of app subscriptions
  • An international restaurant company in bench trial regarding piercing the corporate veil*
  • A global real estate developer in a jury trial for breach of contract*
  • A major online retailer presenting unique questions regarding strict liability*
  • A foreign business and international family facing claims brought under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act and for breach of fiduciary duties under Delaware law*
