About Alexander
Alexander is a trial lawyer with a multifaceted practice representing innovators and disruptors in high-stakes business and IP disputes. His work spans unfair competition, intellectual property litigation, contract disputes, consumer class actions and founder disputes. Alexander advises fast-growing companies across industries, such as venture capital, ridesharing, apparel, computer software and entertainment. He has significant experience handling matters involving cryptocurrency, Web3 and blockchain technologies, as well as complex copyright infringement cases within the music industry. Known for his pragmatic approach, he partners with clients to achieve the best results – whether by avoiding disputes, resolving cases early or prevailing in court.
Before joining Cooley, Alexander worked at an AmLaw 100 firm, representing corporate clients in a range of domestic and international litigation and arbitration matters, as well as internal investigations. From 2015 to 2016, he clerked for Judge James O. Browning of the US District Court for the District of New Mexico. Alexander also previously co-founded and served as CEO of Roamer, a subleasing tech startup. Alexander graduated from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he was a Global Law Scholar and served as managing editor of the American Criminal Law Review’s 30th Annual Survey of White-Collar Crime. He also worked as a research assistant to renowned criminal law professor Paul Butler, the Albert Brick Professor in Law at Georgetown.

- A tech entrepreneur in a dispute regarding investment in a Hollywood film production company
- An iconic apparel brand against copyright infringement claims relating to the use of music on social media
- A virtual reality and augmented reality company in a trade secret dispute
- A VC firm in litigation against a former employee of a unicorn tech company regarding a forward contract
- A tech company in a lawsuit against a competitor alleging anti-competitive behavior in the food delivery market
- A startup founder and CEO against fraud, fiduciary duty and insider trading claims in connection with a secondary stock sale
- Provisionally certified classes of detained persons, including medically vulnerable persons, in impact litigation against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) private prisons across California in regard to constitutionally inadequate COVID-19 conditions
- A Mongolian asylum seeker in an affirmative asylum case
- An indigent prisoner in post-conviction litigation, successfully overturning a life sentence
