Alec Wahl

Alec focuses on patent prosecution and preparation. He assists early-stage startups and venture-backed companies as they seek patent protections for their inventions and build out their IP portfolios.

Before joining Cooley, he worked at the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) as a biomedical patent examiner. In this role, he saw firsthand how the patent office searches for prior art and crafts office actions, which form the heart of patent prosecution.

Alec’s master’s degree in bioengineering focused on redesigning external cerebrospinal fluid shunts to improve device safety and portability.
