
About Aarti
Aarti is a skilled litigator with extensive experience litigating class actions and other commercial disputes in federal and state courts. She handles a broad range of civil litigation, including privacy and consumer class action and mass action defense, securities litigation, copyright infringement, and breach of contract disputes. Her clients span multiple industries, such as social media, software-as-a-service, renewable energy, mobile ticket resellers, fitness and lifestyle, and education.
Aarti also regularly advises clients on compliance with federal and state privacy statutes, including the California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA), and consumer protection laws, such as drip pricing statutes and autorenewal laws.
Aarti’s recent representative experience includes:
- Successfully opposed class certification in a putative class action lawsuit asserting that Google’s real-time bidding process violates federal and state wiretapping and privacy laws
- Served as lead counsel and secured dismissal with prejudice of invasion of privacy and wiretap claims arising from defendant insurer’s use of analytics technologies
- Served as lead counsel and secured dismissal with prejudice in multiple actions challenging the use of analytics software used by a diet and weight loss company as an unlawful wiretap under California, Pennsylvania and Maryland laws
- Defending Google in a mass action pending in California state court arising from Google’s disclosure regarding private browsing mode
- Served as lead counsel and successfully compelled arbitration in an action challenging a mobile ticket seller’s compliance with drip pricing statutes
- Obtained a successful settlement for diet and weight loss mobile app in a putative nationwide class action challenging the company’s disclosures as a violation of California autorenewal law and consumer protection statutes under 50 states
- Defending social media company in a series of actions challenging the use of analytics technology developed by the company as an unlawful wiretap under CIPA and the federal Wiretap Act
- Successfully defended a data analytics company and major retailers in multiple class actions in federal and state courts alleging wiretap violations from the use of analytics software; secured dismissals with prejudice in California and Florida, earning Cooley a runner-up spot on The American Lawyer’s Litigation Daily Litigator of the Week Runners-Up and Shout-Outs list
