High Court ruling on domain name registrations has impact for brand owners and for ICANN

"A recent decision of the High Court of England and Wales makes it easier for owners of distinctive trading names to protect those names online and reinforces London’s reputation as a leading venue for commercial disputes involving the Internet. The decision in Yoyo.Email Ltd v Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc [2015] EWHC 3509 (Ch) could also have a significant impact on the review of rights protection mechanisms recently launched by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the body responsible for the domain name system."
