New York – October 1, 2026 – Cooley today announced that Nicholas Caselli has joined the firm as a partner in its securities litigation + enforcement practice and global litigation department in New York. Caselli defends securities class actions, as well as shareholder derivative and M&A-related claims, including on behalf of technology and life sciences clients.

Cooley has long had one of the leading securities litigation practices on the West Coast, especially for the representation of tech and life sciences companies. Caselli’s recruitment is an important step toward establishing the preeminent next-generation securities litigation practice in New York.

“Nick has already been at the center of two of New York’s leading securities litigation practices in his still young career, and as soon as we met him, we were confident that he would emerge as one of the best of his generation. We are excited to build with him in New York,” said Ian Shapiro, chair of Cooley’s global litigation department and partner in charge of the New York office.

“Nick has strategically built his practice at the intersection of securities litigation, shareholder disputes and M&A, making him a natural fit for the needs of our growing client base,” said Patrick Gibbs, partner and leader of Cooley’s securities litigation + enforcement practice. “His experience handling complex matters in New York and Delaware, together with his ability to work alongside transactional teams before disputes arise, will be a tremendous asset as we continue to grow our East Coast capabilities.”

“Cooley’s world-class securities litigation practice, deep relationships with innovative companies and collaborative culture made the firm a natural choice for my next chapter,” said Caselli. “I look forward to working with my new colleagues to guide clients through their most complex shareholder disputes and help build on the practice’s growing presence in New York.”

Cooley’s global litigation department includes more than 500 lawyers in the US and Europe representing technology, life sciences and other innovative companies. Since 2025, Cooley has added more than two dozen elite lawyers to its litigation department throughout the US, including Elizabeth Prelogar, Raymond Tolentino, Ephraim McDowell, Brian Nelson, Janet Kim, Meredith Halama and Jessica Donlon in Washington, DC; Simona Agnolucci, Ben Hur, Jonathan Patchen, Eduardo Santacana, Joshua Anderson and Tiffany Lin in San Francisco; Michael Rome and Brian Klein in Los Angeles; Lyndsey Kruzer, Andrea Reid, Andrew Wilkins and John Rearick in Boston; and James Kim, Tejal Shah, Sean Quinn, Michael La Marca and now Caselli in New York.
