GCR Recommends Cooley’s Antitrust Practice in DC and Brussels
Global Competition Review has recommended Cooley and its partners in its GCR 100, an annual listing and analysis of the world’s top competition and antitrust law practices. Cooley’s Washington, DC, antitrust & competition team was noted for representing Horizon Therapeutics in its $28 billion acquisition by Amgen in which the firm successfully defended longtime client Horizon against the Federal Trade Commission. The firm also was highlighted for representing One Medical in its $3.9 billion sale to Amazon and Arena Pharmaceuticals in its $6.7 billion sale to Pfizer. In the realm of litigation, the firm was noted for representing the National Association of Realtors in multiple class actions, JetBlue in a DOJ challenge to its $3.8 billion proposed acquisition of Spirit Airlines, and Google in antitrust litigation.

Additionally, Cooley was newly recommended in Brussels, with the GCR noting the firm’s historic victory on behalf of Condor, a German leisure airline, in the European Union’s General Court. A Cooley team represented Condor in its successful challenge of the European Commission’s approval of Lufthansa’s 6 billion euros 2020 state bailout. This recognition from GCR comes on the heels of Cooley’s Brussels-based team winning The Lawyer’s European Competition or Antitrust Team of the Year award based on the representation of Condor. The firm also was noted for its growth through the lateral hires of Alexander Israel in 2019 and Jonas Koponen in 2022.
