Cooley Ranks #2 Overall on Law.com International’s UK A List

Firm rates among top law firms to work for, highlighting commitment to pro bono, diversity
November 29, 2023

London – November 29, 2023 Cooley has earned the #2 overall ranking on the 2023 UK A-List, as published by Law.com International. The annual list ranks firms based on several metrics – including revenues per lawyer, gender partnership parity, racial diversity and pro bono service.

This year’s stellar result further validates the firm’s commitment to the cultural priorities that sit at the heart of the A-List methodology, and it follows the firm receiving a #12 ranking on The American Lawyer’s 2023 A-List in the US. In recent weeks, the firm also appeared in the top three of the Law.com International ranking of firms with the most UK-based female equity partners.

Cooley’s pro bono commitment is among the factors vaulting it up the US and UK A-List rankings. Earlier this month, the firm appeared on Law.com International’s 2023 ranking of the best law firms for pro bono in the UK. In 2022, the firm’s London office increased its total pro bono service hours and the percentage of qualified fee earners dedicating time to pro bono activities.

Justin Stock, Cooley’s London managing partner, noted to Law.com, “Our lawyers take great pride in giving back to the community by actively supporting a range of local and national organizations for our pro bono activities.”

In 2022, the firm increased the average number of pro bono hours per lawyer and, in turn, the percentage of lawyers who performed more than 20 hours of such work. In total, more than 118,000 hours were devoted to pro bono matters across the firm last year.
