Cooley Named Licensing & Collaboration Firm of the Year by LMG Life Sciences

Two Cooley partners also named winners in their practice areas

New York – September 9, 2022 – Cooley was named Licensing & Collaboration Firm of the Year at the 10th annual LMG Life Sciences Americas Awards. The publication also named partner Barbara Borden as M&A Attorney of the Year and partner Kay Chandler as Licensing & Collaboration Attorney of the Year.

The firm also was recognized for its successful representation of Gilead Sciences in an appellate victory in Ramirez v. Gilead, which was identified as an Impact Case of the Year. Additionally, the firm’s representation of Poseida in its $3.6 billion research collaboration with Takeda was recognized as an Impact Deal of the Year.

Cooley had been shortlisted in four practice categories in total, including three nominations for Financial & Corporate law – M&A Firm of the Year, Corporate Firm of the Year, and Licensing & Collaboration Firm of the Year. The firm also was nominated in the Intellectual Property category for Patent Strategy Firm of the Year, in addition to several individual categories.

In May, Cooley was recognized for its work in Europe, the Middle East and Africa at the 2022 LMG Life Sciences EMEA Awards, where it received the Venture Capital Firm of the Year award, and partners John Wilkinson and Tom Goodman were named Licensing & Collaboration Lawyer of the Year and Corporate Rising Star, respectively.
