TCGplayer Agrees to Sell to eBay

New York – August 23, 2022 – Cooley advised TCGplayer, an online marketplace for collectible card game enthusiasts, on its agreement to sell to global commerce company eBay. Partners Kevin Cooper and Jeff Laretto led the Cooley team advising TCGplayer. 

The sale, which is valued at approximately $295 million, will allow TCGplayer to continue operating autonomously as one of the largest online marketplaces for trading card games, and provide eBay with strategic omnichannel capabilities, maintaining its position as a desirable platform for trading card sellers.

TCGplayer is a top technology platform for the collectibles industry. Founded as a digital media company specializing in trading card games within the collectibles space, TCGplayer has grown from its initial roots working with Syracuse, New York-based hobby stores into an expansive ecommerce platform. The company develops applications, data management tools, and technologies beneficial to buyers and sellers in the collectibles industry.
