Maple VC Closes $16.5 Million Fund

December 6, 2021

San Francisco – December 6, 2021 – Cooley advised Maple VC, a San Francisco-based seed-stage investment firm, on the closing of its second fund, Fund II, at $16.5 million. Lawyers Josh Seidenfeld and William Newsom led the Cooley team advising Maple VC.

Insight Partners, Tiger Global, Foundry Group, Recast Capital and Plexo Capital joined the fund, which Maple VC plans to dedicate to continued investment in Canadian entrepreneurs.

“There is more that can be done to foster and support Canadian entrepreneurs – both at home and abroad – and to highlight Canada’s largest and most influential export: talent,” Andre Charoo, founder of Maple VC, said in a statement for BetaKit.

Maple VC frequently makes early-stage investments in Canadian tech startups, including social ordering app Ritual, construction materials delivery startup RenoRun, restaurant software company ResQ, fintech firm Neo Financial and auto repair software startup AutoLeap. Many of these companies have raised major funding rounds amid an explosion in venture capital activity in Canada over the past year.
