LACBA Honors Cooley Tax Partner With Esteemed Dana Latham Memorial Award

January 12, 2021

Los Angeles – January 12, 2021 – The Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Taxation Section has selected Cooley partner Alexander Lee as the recipient of its elite 2021 Dana Latham Memorial Award for his outstanding contribution to the community and to the legal profession in the taxation field. He is the youngest practitioner to receive the prestigious award.

The award, first given in 1976 to honor the memory of Dana Latham, former Los Angeles County Bar Association president and commissioner of internal revenue, recognizes the characteristics and leadership he epitomized. These include broad participation in community and public service, achievement across the bench, in legal education and tax literature and in practice as a lawyer.

Lee focuses on domestic and international transactional tax matters with a concentration on public and private M&A, lending and finance and capital markets and an emphasis on cross-border transactions and corporate transactions involving Asian clients. “Taxplaining,” Lee’s popular video series, distills complex tax issues into easy-to-understand information for business leaders to informed decisions about their emerging companies. Lee has also been an adjunct professor at Loyola Law School for more than 20 years and spends substantial time and effort mentoring the next generation of Los Angeles tax lawyers.
