Immortals Gaming Club Acquires Infinite Esports & Entertainment

Transaction marks largest change of control in esports history
June 28, 2019

Los Angeles – June 28, 2019 – Cooley advised Immortals Gaming Club, parent company of the Immortals esports teams and the Los Angeles Valiant Overwatch League team, on its acquisition of Infinite Esports & Entertainment, the parent company of OpTic Gaming and the Houston Outlaws Overwatch League team. Cooley partner Dave Young led the team advising IGC on the acquisition.

The transaction marks the largest change of control in esports history and makes IGC one of the world’s largest esports organizations. The transaction has already been approved by Riot Games and Activision Blizzard, highlighting the continued strength of the world’s leading esports leagues and their respective franchising models.

The acquisition is “a transformative transaction for our organization and a landmark transaction for our industry,” said Ari Segal, CEO of IGC, in a news release. “We’re incredibly excited to work to preserve, sustain and grow OpTic’s unique and special place as the original content-first esports brand, one that consistently delivers amazing content and championships for its community.”

IGC is the world’s first vertically integrated, truly global esports and gaming company. It will operate all four distinct brands – Immortals, OpTic, MIBR and LA Valiant – and continue to build its presence in Riot’s League of Legends Championship Series and Activision Blizzard’s Overwatch League.
