WILEF Awards Cooley Seventh Gold Standard Certification

July 9, 2018

New York – July 9, 2018 – For the seventh consecutive year, the Women in Law Empowerment Forum has certified Cooley as a Gold Standard law firm. The Gold Standard is WILEF's highest level of recognition for commitment to the advancement of women in the legal industry.

“We at Cooley take seriously increasing the representation and leadership of women throughout our firm and the legal community,” said Kay Chandler, partner and co-chair of Cooley’s Women’s Initiative alongside partner Shira Nadich Levin.

“It’s an honor to receive this certification year after year, especially among so many distinctive firms,” added Levin.

WILEF grants Gold Standard status to major law firms that meet objective criteria concerning the number of women among equity partners, in firm leadership positions and in the ranks of their most highly compensated partners. This year’s mandatory criteria includes that 20% of equity partners or 33% of the lawyers becoming equity partners during the past twelve months are women.

In 2017, Fortune magazine ranked Cooley as the #1 law firm on its Best Workplace lists for women and for diversity. Fortune has also recognized Cooley as the top law firm on its elite 100 Best Companies to Work For list. Other national and regional publications also consistently recognize Cooley as a great place to work, including Working Mother, Crain’s New York Business, the San Diego Business Journal and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.
